Edwin W. Carey

WOODSTOCK - Edwin W. Carey, 101, of Woodstock, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home in Woodstock. He was born Feb. 12, 1909, in Spring Grove, to Edward and Maude (Hesselgrave) Carey. He married Lottie Maltzberger [Maltsberger], who preceded him in death. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Corp during World War II. He grew up on the family farm in Spring Grove and later moved to San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by a sister, Sylvia Carey O'Halleran of Woodstock; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Beulah Carey Readel. Services will be at Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, followed by interment in Coker Cemetery.
