Evelyn Harper Ferris

Evelyn Harper Ferris, loving mother of three, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of eighteen, died on Monday, August 10, 2009 at the age of 92. Evelyn is survived by her son, John Estill Ferris, III and her daughter, Dottie Ferris Arfaa. Evelyn's son, Robin Harper Ferris predeceased her in 1987. Evelyn was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 4, 1917 to Hugh and Dottie Belle Harper. She was the eldest child.Evelyn married John Estill Ferris, Jr. from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1940. After John's death in 1972, Evelyn exercised her independent spirit. She moved to New Port Richey, Florida, where she embarked on a new journey in her life. In 1999, Evelyn moved to Dallas, Texas. She joined The Heartland Church, where she shared in the joy of Jesus Christ. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009. Burial: 4:30 at Coker Cemetery in San Antonio. Both visitation and funeral will be at Heartland Church, 310 S. Story Rd., Irving. The family kindly request memorials be directed to the Jack DeHart Nicaraguan Orphanage, Care of Heartland Church, 310 S.
