CLARENCE ARTHUR GERFERS, SR.1911 - 1987Bio GERFERSClarence Arthur Gerfers, Sr., age 75, of San Antonio, died Saturday, April 11, 1987. He was a resident of San Antonio for most of his life, a member of Coker United Methodist Church, owned and operated Gerfer's Store from '46 - '77, which was a gathering place for the community, until it was purchased by the City of San Antonio as part of an expansion program for the airport. Survivors: wife, Edna Mae Gerfers; daughters, Peggy Blucher and husband, Richard, both of San Antonio, Tx., Connie Emmick and husband, Bob, Dallas, Tex., Dorothy Scyrkels and husband, Bill, Denver, Colorado; son, Clarence A. (Butch) Gerfers, Jr. and wife, Kay of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Rebecca Leader, Bob Blucher, George Blucher, Rick Blucher, Rob Emmick, [Steve Emmick,] Laura Scyrkels, Brad Scyrkels, Clarence Trey Gerfers, III., Andy Gerfers and Joe Gerfers; sisters, Elsie Walsworth [and] Nell Autry both of San Antonio, Tx., and Dorothy Gerfers, Stamford, Texas; twin brother, Clyde Gerfers, Seattle, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews. Service Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Coker United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gregory Robertson officiating. Pallbearers will be [the] grandsons. For those who desire memorial contributions may be made to Coker Cemetery Association or Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road, San Antonio, Tx., 78216. Interment in Coker Cemetery.
