Our beautiful mother, Kathryn Hampton, age 84, of San Antonio, passed away on January 21, 2021. She was born and raised in San Antonio, and attended Cotton Elementary School. She was a hard worker, starting at a young age at Margott’s Grocery with her sister Betty. She graduated from San Antonio Main Avenue High School, now known as Fox Technical High School, where she excelled in tumbling, typing and shorthand. It wasn’t long after, that she met a handsome young man at the Battle of Flowers parade. Bobby Jack and Kathryn wed on New Year’s Eve in 1956 and were married for 44 years until his passing on September 9, 1999. She worked for the Department of Defense for 42 years . First at Kelly AFB, then at Ft. Sam Houston Fifth Army, before retiring in 1999. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her grandchildren gave her a purpose in life. She was their biggest fan at any sporting event. She was their ride to and from places. She was known as “Grandma” to all their friends. Grandma was their confidant, and always showed each one of them unconditional love. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jack Hampton, great-grandson Samuel Jack Almanza, parents Herbert and Thekla Bees, sisters Willie Lee Bees and Betty Jean Covert, and brother Larry Haese. Kathryn is survived by her children, Brenda (Frank) Rodriguez, Christian Hampton, Shari (Tim) Gaertner, and Tara Wetli; grandchildren Brandon (Jenny) Almanza, Aaron (Peggy) Almanza, Amanda (Letty) Almanza; Kristine, Kimberly, Katie and Kayla Hampton; Siobhan and Allan Gaertner; Kelsi, Cameron and Carson Wetli; great-grandchildren Emerson, Callen, Cassius, Lazaro, Aliyah and Amelia, numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary. A family service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, February 13, 2021, with interment to follow at Coker Cemetery. She will be deeply missed.
