After a short battle with cancer, Glenn Alder Jennings went to
be with His Lord in Simpsonville, SC, on January 6, 2015. Glenn was born on April
3, 1944 in San Antonio, TX, the son of Charles W. and Julia E. Alder Jennings.
He attended Highlands High School in San Antonio, TX and Abilene Christian
University in Abilene, TX.
Glenn was a devoted Christian, husband and father, loyal friend and helpful
neighbor. He was an accomplished salesman, executive manager and general contractor
during his work career. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell his
stories. Those who knew him well knew him as “Bubba”, as he was the youngest son
in the family.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Avis Camelia “Camay” Thomason Jennings.
They met at Abilene Christian University in Chemistry class in 1966 and married
on August 26, 1967. The Jennings’ have two sons and their families, Jeffrey S.
and Elizabeth Whitfield Jennings and children Alexander and Emily of Ridgewood,
NJ and Joseph G. and Janelle Calvo Jennings and children, Gabriela, Maximillian,
Liliana and Vivienne of Hutto, TX. His two brothers and their wives also survive
Glenn: Marshall E. and Marjorie Chapman Jennings of Dripping Springs, TX and
Charles R. “Randy” and Sandra Barrett Jennings of Austin, TX.
His body was cremated and separate memorial services were held in Simpsonville, SC
and San Antonio, TX in January, 2015. He requested that his ashes be sprinkled in
the Gulf of Mexico. A memorial stone will be placed in the family cemetery, Coker
Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
