Reinhold “Ron” Lucke, age 73, died Thursday, June 20, 1996 in San Antonio. Born on November 1, 1922 in Hallettsville, TX, he was educated in the Hallettsville Public Schools. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 – 1946. After his discharge, he attended Southwest Texas State College, receiving his B.A. and M. Ed. degrees. Ron’s career in education included high school teaching in West Texas followed by a span of 25 years at San Antonio College serving as chair of the Theatre and Communications Department. Ron was awarded Emeritus status upon his retirement in 1984. He was actively involved in the Texas Educational Theater Association for a decade, serving as president from 1984 – 1986. Preceded in death by his son, Steven Chapman Lucke and a granddaughter, Emily Anne Lucke. He is survived by Marian, his wife of 46 years; sons, Michael and his wife, Anne of Sherman, TX, David and his wife, Leisa of San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Melissa Preuss and her husband, Buddy of Comfort, TX; and eight grandchildren, Mikey and Marian Lucke, Stevie and Charlotte Lucke, Pamela and Jessica Smith, Justin and Katie Preuss. Also survived by a brother, Joe Lucke and his wife, Marcy of Victoria, TX; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Couser and her husband, Bill of San Antonio, TX.
